Chennai Super Kings will take on defending champions Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday, April 7, in the opening game of the 2018 VIVO Indian Premier League season.
The Lions will then play their first home game against Kolkata Knight Riders at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday, April 10, according to the schedule released on the official IPL website.
Two-time champions CSK will then travel to Indore to play Kings XI Punjab at the Holkar Stadium on Sunday, April 15, and this will be followed by a home game against Rajasthan Royals on Friday, April 20.
CSK, runners-up on four occasions in the opening decade, then play back-to-back away games, against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium on Sunday, April 22, and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday, April 25.
This will be followed by back-to-back home games for the much-decorated Lions, who also qualified to the Playoffs in all eight seasons between 2008 and 2015, first against Mumbai Indians on Saturday, April 28, and followed by Delhi Daredevils on Monday, April 30.
CSK will then head to the Eden Gardens to play hosts Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday, May 3, before the home game against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday, May 5.
Following a five-day break, the Lions will play four games over the last 10 days of the league phase – Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on Friday, May 11, Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday, May 13, Delhi Daredevils at the Kotla on Friday, May 18, and Kings XI Punjab at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday, May 20.
The Playoffs start on Tuesday, May 22, with the final in Mumbai on Sunday, May 27.
