It’s now a matter of a few hours before the Champions League T20 gets underway for finding the new world leader. Like last year, teams from India are favorites to win the silverware.
Chennai Super Kings, the winners of IPL 2010, are up for the challenge in the African Safari. MS Dhoni, the captain of CSK, has beautiful memories about South Africa where his young Indian team went on to become the inaugural World T20 champions. CSK fans want nothing less than an encore of that victory.
MSD’s leadership is the main weapon in the arsenal of CSK. His crucial decisions took CSK to the IPL title in last march and that could be decisive the CLT20 as well.
CSK rely lot on batting as it is their key strength. Hayden has shown some glimpse of form in the last practice match and if he fires on all cylinders, then no team can stop CSK from posting a mammoth total.
Chennai has batting stalwarts like Hussey, Dhoni, Raina, Murali Vijay etc to keep the momentum going and Justin Kemp, Albie Morkel for the final assault.
The arrival of Doug Bollinger has improved the strength of CSK’s bowling and he will get some tremendous support from the legendary off-spinner Muralidharan and other slow bowlers.
Balaji will have some point to prove in the Champions League. He hasn’t got his rhythm back yet after the series of injuries since 2005, which kept him out of selectors’ radar.
Chennai Super Kings journey to triumph will not be easy as they have to face some real challenges from teams like Victorian Bushrangers, South Australian Redbacks and also from their Indian counterparts.
Taking up the challenge is nothing new for MSD & Co. We are in for some real treat. So until all we can do is – VISSIL PODUUUUUU!
